REBEL MACHINE AND AMC RESOURCE CENTRE
We are expanding our range of parts and accessories. Why should these old cars which were decades ahead of their time in 1970 be consigned to the past? Let's keep our Rebel Machines relevant and happening!
THE QUALITY AND TYPE OF LIGHT HAS A PROFOUND EFFECT ON HOW THE STRIPES LOOK. THESE SHOTS SHOW SOME OF THE VARIATIONS.
THE MACHINE SHOWN ABOVE HAS A ONE OF A KIND SOLID BLUE GRILLE STRIPE BECAUSE THIS MACHINE WAS ORIGINALLY FROST WHITE.
ADD SOME EXCITEMENT TO YOUR SOLID COLOUR REBEL WITH SOME STRIPES!
The Red Streak Stripe kit was always an option for Rebel Machines that were not white. This is according to Vince Geraci, AMC Design Studio Manager, Senior Cars, the man who designed the Rebel Machines. He said this in a conversation with me, John Newell on December 4, 2015 that the only reason AMC didn't specifically promote solid colour Machines wearing the stripe kit was because they never thought of it. But it was always available as a do-it-yourself installation or as a dealer installed option to anyone who wanted to do it. He added that the kit could have been ordered on a new car as well even though the initial concept didn't call for it. AMC was known for doing practically anything within reason to accommodate a customer and make the sale. You can see for yourself, this option would have helped sell many more Rebel Machines because the stripe kit looks every bit as good on red as it does on white. In fact it looks spectacular on any of the sixteen colours Rebel Machine Machines came in other than the BIG BAD colours and Fleet Grey. The stripes could have been offered in different colour combinations as well. But AMC simply didn't think of it. I did in the early 90s and did a computer rendereing of a Machine in yellow and white with white stripes at the time. I can make you a set in the colours of your choice if you like.
Why the stripes on a solid colour car? It gives them identity, immediate recognition and a WOW factor that isn't there without the stripes in my opinion.
